ONLINE DONATION

Would you like to support a successful university student?

For only 32,87 TL per day!

This year, Yücel Cultural Foundation is providing a monthly scholarship of 2,000 TL to successful university students in need (2,000 TL x 12 months = 24,000 TL total annual amount). To create opportunities for more students, the Half Apple system is implemented, where half of the amount is covered by a donor and the other half is covered by our foundation and/or another donor.

How Does the System Work?

The donor officially donates half of the annual amount (12,000 TL) to the Yücel Cultural Foundation, either in cash or in up to six installments (via Bonus credit cards). The other half (12,000 TL) is covered by the resources generated by the foundation. In the case of a high number of donors and when the amount exceeds the budget set by the Foundation Board of Directors, donations from two Half Apple donors are combined, and a monthly transfer of 2,000 TL is made to the student's account.

How Do You Select the Students for the Scholarship?

You can review our Scholarship Regulation (Article 11) or directly view the scholarship selection criteria.

Candidates who meet the criteria are ranked based on their financial needs.

However, when making donations to the Half Apple Scholarships, you are not required to follow our priority ranking.

What Documents Do You Require from Students to Evaluate the Criteria?

Students apply through the bursverenler.org platform and upload all necessary documents, either as photos or scanned copies, in the documents section. Selection is made from those marked as Information Verified.

Since 2016, all applications are submitted online without the need for physical documents. However, after students qualify for the scholarship, the foundation may request documents listed below to verify the information in the application form. These documents must be submitted to the foundation within 15 days.

Required Documents for Scholarship Applicants:

a. Mandatory for all scholarship candidates

  1. Signed copy of the Yücel Cultural Foundation Scholarship Regulation
  2. One passport-sized photo
  3. Family record certificate
  4. Criminal record
  5. Current residence certificate of the scholarship recipient
  6. Proof of enrollment from the university (if transcript is available, this is not required)

b. Personal documents (based on the information provided in the form)

  1. If marked rent: a copy of the rental contract
  2. If your GPA is between 4.00-5.00 or 80-100: a copy of the certificate
  3. If marked transcript: a copy of the transcript
  4. Documents showing the income of family members, such as a payroll or pension statement (can be obtained via e-government)
  5. For family members: if marked green card, Bağkur, SGK, private insurance: copies of the documents or verification from e-government
  6. Copies of certificates for training programs you have attended
  7. If university placement score is provided: a copy of the document
  8. If receiving scholarships from other institutions: proof of such scholarships

If you fail to verify the information in your form or if the documents are not submitted on time, the scholarship will not be granted, even if two Half Apple donors are available.

Documents such as criminal records, residence certificates, proof of enrollment, and transcripts obtained through e-government and university student systems are not considered official documents. These documents will be accepted for application, but scholarship recipients must submit original documents later.

Can I Personally Select the Student to Receive My Half Apple Scholarship?

Of course. You can choose a student in need from those not rejected by the Scholarship Selection Committee. By following the "I am donating a scholarship" steps for the Half Apple Scholarship on bursverenler.org and entering the donation amount, you will be directed to the personal information page. If you click the "I have criteria for selecting a scholarship recipient" box at the bottom of the page, you can specify your criteria (for example, female or male, born in a particular city, or attending a particular school/department).

Can I Give a Half Apple Scholarship to a Student I Know from Outside Through Your Foundation?

No. Half Apple Scholarships can only be awarded to candidates who meet the scholarship application requirements within the specified deadlines and have applied to the foundation.

Can I Provide a Full Scholarship Within the Scope of This Project?

No, as the name Half Apple suggests, you can only cover half of a student's scholarship amount. This amount is 12,000 TL per year. If you donate 48,000 TL, you will create opportunities for two students, for whom we are obliged to provide the other half. (If you provide educational opportunities for two individuals, you will be making a daily donation of 65.75 TL: 24,000 TL / 365 Days).

Do You Make Payments to the Scholarship Recipient in Cash?

No, our scholarship recipients are distributed all over Turkey. We ask all our scholarship recipients to open an account at the bank branch we have an agreement with. This way, they do not incur any fees for account maintenance, transfers, or many other banking services.

All our foundation's transactions are conducted transparently and in accordance with legal financial record-keeping procedures.

How Will I Know That the Scholarship Has Been Paid to the Student I Selected?

Every month, you will receive an email with a bank receipt regarding the scholarship sent to the account of the young person you selected.

Do You Inform the Student's School and Family That They Have Won a Scholarship?

The student is notified email about their scholarship award, and an email is sent to their family (for those whose families are alive) if the scholar is younger than 18 years old, informing them.

How Are the Students’ School and Academic Performances Monitored?

At the end of each academic year, we request transcripts from their schools. If requested, we share their academic performance with the donor. Additional support is provided to students whose performances are closely monitored in areas they wish to improve. They can also participate in the cultural activities organized by our foundation as per their requests. In extraordinary situations, students already seek solutions to their problems from us.

Will I Meet the Student I Gave a Half Apple Scholarship To?

If you wish, you can definitely meet them. Some of our donors prefer to remain anonymous to the student. In the absence of such a situation, we share the donor's name, surname, phone number, and email address with the scholarship recipient. We encourage the recipients to stay informed about the successes and developments of their donors, emphasizing that maintaining good relationships with their donors is important for the continuation of the scholarship in the coming years. Of course, meeting is not mandatory.

Do Donors Have Any Other Responsibilities Towards the Students?

No, you do not have any responsibilities in this regard, nor are you obligated to continue supporting this young person in subsequent years.

Is There a Chance for Me to Withdraw My Donation During the Year?

Your Half Apple donation is a one-year commitment to a student in need. It cannot be withdrawn during the year. As long as the student meets the requirements in our scholarship management, they will benefit from this scholarship.

If the scholarship recipient loses this right, your money will not be pooled, and a scholarship opportunity will be provided to the next candidate in line within the remaining period, with information sent to you, and the new recipient’s bank receipts will be forwarded to you.

Why Don’t You Cover the Full Amount of the Scholarship from the Foundation?

The idea of the Half Apple Scholarship has arisen for the following reasons:

  1. To provide scholarships to more young people through the foundation's resources
  2. To create awareness of support for youth and education in society
  3. To develop and spread the habit of giving donations
  4. To leave the prioritization of scholarship recipient selection criteria to the conscience of society.
