Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 7:00 PM, at our performance center in Sultanahmet, we will proudly host the screening of the film Water for Life, which received the Special Jury Mention award at the 2024 edition of the Bozcaada International Festival of Ecological Documentary (BIFED), with which Yücel Cultural Foundation collaborated during the organization process.
Taking twelve years to complete, *Water for Life* follows three Latin American community leaders working to protect their waters and ancestral lands from multinational corporations and corrupt governments, threats that endanger their communities' environmental, cultural, and economic survival. At a time when countless environmental challenges seem insurmountable, here are stories of individuals who stand up, speak the truth, and create positive change. *Water for Life* is a story of courage and determination, betrayal and corruption, death threats and murder, unexpected victories in rural areas and courtrooms alike. It questions how economic development can coexist with environmental protections and why unchecked greed and profiteering are often tolerated at the expense of human life and our precious planet. The film sheds light on the increasing recognition of Indigenous rights and the growing demand for corporate accountability and environmental justice worldwide. This is a story that begins and ends with water.
Our event is open to our trustees, volunteers, and scholarship recipients. You can register via sanateserleri.org. Click here to register!
