Being Young: Realizing It’s Normal That Your Peers Are Living Completely Different Lives

Different life paths among young people

Being young sometimes feels like watching people your own age step into completely different lives. Some graduate from university, some start working, some get married, and some move to another city—or another life. While everyone on social media seems to have “arrived” somewhere, you can’t help but ask yourself: Am I falling behind?

No one’s life moves at the same pace. Some start early, some find their path later. Some pause, reflect, and change direction. None of these are shortcomings. On the contrary, they are all part of the process of getting to know yourself. Everyone’s path is unique, and its value cannot be measured by the steps others take.

Finding your own path

Sometimes, stopping to think and trying to understand what you truly want is also a step forward. Even if it looks like you’re “doing nothing” from the outside, the process of getting to know yourself is incredibly valuable. Because it’s not the rushed steps that last, but the ones that truly belong to you.

Moving at your own pace

Even though it may seem like everyone is rushing somewhere, in reality, everyone moves at their own pace—and that’s completely normal. Being young is, in part, accepting this: trusting your own timing, valuing your own path rather than others’. Your life is yours, your path is yours. Only you get to decide when and how to shape it.
