A topic that has been featured in many films, always appearing as an illusion trick, performed in mediums' rituals, wondered by everyone, and although explanations are made, still remaining a question, a subject that humanity has always been curious about and wished to possess as a skill—today we will explore this mysterious subject, which we find both enjoyable and astonishing: We will approach this topic with the question, "What is Telepathy and Telekinesis, and is it possible to perform them?" Let's take a detailed look at this mysterious subject together.
WHAT IS TELEPATHY?
Humans do not communicate only by speaking. Speech is just one way of conveying thoughts. Thoughts are transformed into sounds we call speech. Messages intended to be conveyed are shaped in the mind and transmitted through words. In telepathy, however, emotional sensations and spiritual intensities dominate communication.
So, are our thoughts conveyed only through speech? Of course not. Every thought formed in our brain spreads around like EEG signals. You can think of it as the waves created when a stone is thrown into water. Each thought spreads like waves created by a stone thrown into water. The larger the stone and its waves, the wider the circle that spreads. "Telepathy" is the spiritual communication mechanism that emerges in transmitting and perceiving these waves. To define it more precisely, telepathy refers to the situation where a person sends thoughts and feelings from their mind to another person without any intermediary, using only the mind. Telepathy occurs by creating an interaction field between the sender and the receiver. In this method, the person sending the thought or feeling is called the "sender," and the person receiving it is called the "receiver." It is said that people with a developed telepathic ability also have an advanced mind-reading skill. When we examine the word "telepathy" etymologically, "tele" means distant, and "pathy" means feeling, as in "empathy," thus giving the meaning of "feeling from a distance." So, what is telepathy's place in science, and does it really exist? Let's explore that now. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence about telepathy. For example, people often experience situations like:
"Just as I was thinking about it, you said it; I was thinking of you, and you called; or when we sing a song in our minds that we love, and someone else continues it aloud." We could add many such examples.
Although there is abundant anecdotal evidence, it has not been extensively studied in scientific research and has remained as anecdotal evidence. This is because there are no direct scientific proofs we can point to. But how and in what way does this phenomenon we call remote sensing happen? To answer this question, several theories have been proposed, and research is being conducted on them. For example, is it done through brain waves, or does it originate from a magnetic field? Research is carried out and recorded based on such ideas, and evaluations are made among these theories. However, what we need to know is that these phenomena called telepathy and telekinesis are not things that can be done at will. Just like writing a song is not always possible and requires inspiration, even if these are real, they are also situations that require focus and cannot be done anytime. So, now let's ask: Is telepathy possible?
IS TELEPATHY POSSIBLE?
The best answer we can give to this question is to mention an experiment conducted by Harvard University on this subject. Harvard University has proven that a message can be sent from one brain to another without any direct communication, making significant progress in the scientific world. The experiment was conducted in the following stages:
A person wearing a wireless, internet-connected electroencephalography (EEG) device was asked to think of simple greeting words like "hello." A computer then converted these words into digital binary code (expressing texts using 0s and 1s). This message was then sent via email from India to France and delivered to the recipient with the help of a robot. The person receiving the message began to see light flashes in their peripheral vision through non-invasive brain stimulation. Although the recipient in France could neither see nor hear the words thought by the person in India, they reported that the flashes corresponded to words like "hello." The scientists conducting this experiment stated that they are still in the early stages of this research. Thus, as a result of this, we may not need to speak at all, and the way we communicate may fundamentally change. This shows us once again the amazing and limitless power of the subconscious mind.
WHAT IS TELEKINESIS?
Telekinesis, an important psychic ability studied in the field of parapsychology, is the ability to influence living or non-living objects by concentrating mental power. Looking at the word's meaning: "tele" is a Greek word meaning distant, and "kinesis" means movement. Thus, telekinesis means "movement from a distance."
Telekinesis is a psychic-based thought energy, and today, in the field of parapsychology, its effects have been measured with electronic devices, and its existence has been acknowledged. Many scientists have proven that we use this energy in everyday life.
There may be times when we use this power unconsciously. Famous American parapsychologist Rex Stanford has conducted experiments on this energy and has shown that it is also used in daily life. One of the simplest examples is getting the desired number on dice.
These studies have found one factor that positively influences this ability: releasing concentration. That is, when we want a specific number on a dice roll, we must first focus intensely, and then as the dice are rolled, we must release that concentration and desire.
Another example we can give is that if we, the writers and editors of this article, had this ability, we could perform these tasks without using our hands, purely through mental power. However, as we mentioned in telepathy, these abilities are not things that can be activated anytime and at will.
IS TELEKINESIS POSSIBLE?
Like telepathy, telekinesis has been featured in many films and has amazed us. For example, famous horror novelist Stephen King showcased the phenomenon of pyrokinesis in his novel *Firestarter* through the main character, Charlie McGee, who creates and controls fire using the power of the mind. Pyrokinesis also means to control fire. But is this really possible?
There is no scientific evidence for the reality of telekinesis. A meta-analysis of 380 experiments on this topic in 2006 found only a very small effect that could be attributed to publication bias. Telekinesis experiments have been criticized by scientists for not being sufficiently controlled and reproducible. However, some experiments have created an illusion of telekinesis, which is proportional to the belief in telekinesis held by the experimenters. Ultimately, this phenomenon is about thought, brain, consciousness, and belief.
Among the most famous people who claimed to perform telekinesis are the Russian psychic Nina Kulagina and the Israeli psychic Uri Geller.
Now, let's look at the different methods used to perform telekinesis.
1. Houck Method
Introduced in parties held since 1981, this method asks participants to imagine themselves in a comfortable place while holding metal spoons and to visualize an energy ball in front of them. They are then asked to bend the spoon between their fingers using the energy flowing from their arms to their fingertips. However, at the moment of energy release, they are advised to distract themselves.
2. Feeling Method
Hands are washed, and a metal object is picked up. Sitting comfortably and relaxing, participants are asked to stroke the surface of the metal with their fingertips, focusing on how it feels. While imagining the object bending, no physical force should be applied.
3. Hypnotic Suggestion
This is not a method that can be done alone. The person is put into a hypnotic trance and given the suggestion that the spoon can bend at will. If the suggestion is strong and subconscious barriers are fully removed, the spoon can bend.
4. Ice Method
Ice is placed on a flat surface, and its water spreads around. The person first tries to move it without touching, using open fingers. Then, fingers are brought together, and they imagine creating wind to push the ice. Another way is to imagine a string between the hand and the ice and try to pull it toward oneself. If successful, they attempt to spin the ice.
5. Candle Method
A burning candle is placed on a table at a distance unaffected by breath. The person focuses on the flame, imagining it tilting right, left, or backward. Concentration should be released after a while. This is crucial. Then, the same is repeated. After a few minutes, concentration is released again.
